Salt Lake City: Land of Promise

Join us for the Music and the Spoken Word live broadcast by the world famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. After the performance, one of Temple Square’s professional gardeners will give us a tour of either the plaza gardens or the Conference Center’s rooftop gardens. We’ll take a 30-minute historic tour of Temple Square, headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Next, we’ll board the bus for a brief driving tour of Salt Lake City, and head to Chuckarama for a delicious buffet lunch. Through the course of the day the tour covers about 2 miles by walking. All admissions, transportation, and lunch included. Please wear nice clothing, pants or slacks (dresses not required) and comfortable shoes. Tips for host and driver not included.


Oquirrh Mountain LDS Temple & Bingham Canyon Coppermine Tour

Depart 8:30am from the Stadium East parking lot
(between the ORC and Aggie Village Apartments)
Arrive back home around 5:00pm

We will head to the south west Salt Lake Valley to take a peek at the world's largest open pit mine even visible from the moon. Bingham Canyon Coppermine is one of the richest mines in the world. Learn about the history of the settling of the Salt Lake Valley along the way. After a casual lunch we will journey to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to visit a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints before it is dedicated. You will enjoy the beautiful architecture and ornate interior and learn about Mormon temple worship. The purpose of this tour is completely educational and not proselyting. Please wear skirts or dresses for the ladies and nice pants and shirts for the men (ties optional) and comfortable shoes. Tips for host and driver not included.


Bear Lake, the Oregon Trail, and Pickleville Playhouse

Monday July 20 and Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Take a trip through beautiful Logan Canyon National Scenic Byway to the turquoise waters of Bear Lake. We’ll sample a famous fresh raspberry shake as we head north to Montepelier, site of a famous Butch Cassidy bank robbery and home to the Oregon California Trail Center where early gold-seekers traversed. You’ll experience the wild West firsthand through their interactive exhibits and tour. If time allows, we’ll stop at the Paris Tabernacle for a quick peek at this pioneer engineering feat. Next, we’ll head back to Garden City and the Pickleville Playhouse where we’ll enjoy a barbecue steak or chicken and Dutch oven dinner and watch a live performance of melodramas or musicals before heading home.
