About Logan
Not only is Logan a very friendly place, it is one of the most beautiful cities in northern
Utah. Located 90 miles north of Salt Lake City, Logan is nestled between two mountain ranges,
with several scenic canyons just minutes away. Bubbling waterfalls and streams, picnic areas,
hiking trails and lush forests of aspens, maples, Douglas firs and mountain lupine abound.
A mere 30 minutes up Logan Canyon is Tony Grove Lake, abundant with fields of wildflowers
in the summer. Continuing up the canyon to the summit, you will find an awe-inspiring view
of Bear Lake renowned for its one-of-a-kind turquoise hue.
Logan is home to Utah State University a nationally accredited
university that provides many educational opportunities as well as a host of civic and sporting
activities. Its presence helps this small town offer several big-city amenities without all of the
hassles of traffic and high prices. The culture and education provide rich experiences for summer
visitors. Affordable, educational courses on a variety of topics are tailored for summer citizens
and offered throughout the summer. Performing arts such as the
Utah Festival Opera and performances at local summer theatres such as the
Old Lyric Repertory Theatre
provide high-quality entertainment at a low cost. The city welcomes its summer citizens with
an opening luncheon and reception. At the end of the summer, an "end-of-the-summer" picnic is
held in honor of those who attended the program. Summer Citizens often leave Logan with wonderful
memories and renewed plans to return the next summer. We hope you will join us next summer!

"Next summer will be our fifth summer in Logan, and we can hardly wait for it to begin.
The combination of great weather, a rich cultural environment, and many opportunities for
sports and recreation- all at a most reasonable cost - cannot be beaten anywhere."

"We live in the Palm Springs area so it is vital we find cooler temperatures during the summer.
Usually we go to our local mountains and lakes or the ocean, but this last summer, at the insistence
of a Logan Summer Citizen, we came to USU. Absolutely loved it and are returning... Nowhere do you
find the activities and classes as we found at USU, and the friendly people and beauty are just added
benefits."
Bob and Doris Updyke -- Palm Desert, CA
"One of the things that my husband and I enjoy is ushering for the Utah State Opera season and to put the frosting on the cake, many of the opera people live in our complex and building. Very interesting people. Karen, the conductor for the Gilbert and Sullivan production this past summer lived upstairs and Pubah lived across from me. It is so interesting to hear about other people's lives so very different from our own."
Jody Kennedy -- Ahwatukee, AZ
"I'll stand by my "music, music, MUSIC" with its excellence and diversity as being the thing that attracts me most about Logan. However, flowers and friendships rank right up there at the top-the beautifully planted beds on campus with the flower maps and charts to tell you just what is planted where--as well as Toni Grove Lake where nature has done the landscaping with an unbelievable array of incredibly beautiful wild flowers."
P.S. Roy would say "golf, golf, GOLF!!!"
