Course Description: The MARCH, as a musical art form, has been around since...well...forever. It is the music that brought down the walls of Jericho. It is the music that moved the Roman Legions. It is played at funerals, weddings and coronations. Marches are in operas, symphonies and ballets. Some are dance-like, others are really intense and fast. Some are regal and some are just funny. But the noble march has been an important part of the musical landscape for centuries. We will explore the many types and styles of this most fascinating and important musical form to discover how and why we are so moved by a good march. *Campus is closed Tuesday, July 4th in celebration of Independence Day- no classes will be held.
