Student Furnished Course Supplies/Prerequisites: Course materials will be poems and life sketches furnished to the class daily, no books required.

Course Description: This course will introduce participants to the work of many Logan poets, including the late former poet laureate of Utah, Kenneth W. Brewer, and Logan's most famous poet, May Swenson. After each study/discussion session, participants will receive a writing prompt to complete on their own and share with the class if they choose to do so.

Course Instructor: Star Coulbrooke, Poet Laureate of Logan City Utah, is co-founder and coordinator of Helicon West, a bi-monthly open readings/featured readers series that publishes community broadsides. Star’s poems are published nationally. Her most recent poetry collections are Walking the Bear and Thin Spines of Memory . Star teaches poetry writing workshops and directs the Utah State University Writing Center.
