Course Description: Bob Paul was a lawman for 47 years in California and Arizona at every level from town to U.S. Marshal. He came to Arizona in 1878, was the Pima County Sheriff, and served as U.S. Marshal for the AZ Territory. His size (6'-4" and 240 lbs) and adept use of firearms made him a formidable force to deal law and order in the Wild West. He killed five of the worst outlaws in gunfights and hanged another 10. Killing three train robbers in a shootout helped him gain national recognition. Yet Paul had his weaknesses, and we will talk about those as well. Western history buffs should know Bob Paul.

Course Instructor: Gerry Miller began his interest in western lawmen when he moved to Dodge City, KS sixty years ago. Since his retirement and move to Arizona in 2000, he has extensively researched and lectured on those lawmen little known by the public but who were instrumental in shaping law and order in the west in general, and Arizona in particular. Miller's interest in law enforcement extended to his serving nine years in the San Diego Police Departments Reserve Police Unit. Miller also performs a one-man stage show enacting one of Arizona's sheriffs, John Slaughter.
