Course Description: 76 million people in the US live with chronic pain. It may limit performance of daily activity, lower quality of life, and affect relationships. This free workshop is designed to address concerns of those living with chronic pain, and those caregivers affected by this challenge. Participants are directed in skills to use for chronic pain management. This is an evidence-based self-management program originally developed at Stanford University and is offered free of charge at this time in the Cache Valley area. This is the second session offered for summer 2018.

Course Instructor: Marilyn Peterson graduated from USU with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Programming. She received her masters’ degree in Gerontology from the University of Utah Interdisciplinary Program. She has worked with the elderly population as a program director, fitness coach, and advocate. Marilyn has taught classes in diversity, leisure, and therapeutic recreation. In the community, Marilyn has taught outreach classes in nutritional lifestyles, sit down exercise, and wellness. She has logged over 1100 hours teaching in decorative arts, has many varied interests, and loves working with people.
